Obituary for Lorna Mae Ratkovich

Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend passed away on June 13, 2019, in Billings.

Born on November 24, 1930, the first child of Harry and Verna Kiner, Lorna grew up on the Kiner Ranch on Fattig Creek. She attended the rural Chimney Butte School through fifth grade, afterward attending schools in Roundup and graduating with the Roundup High School Class of 1948.

At age 12, Lorna was joined by a baby sister, and, in time, two more siblings. She became their second mother, confidant, spiritual adviser and shoulder to cry on throughout the rest of her life. They will deeply miss her kindness and support.

After high school graduation, Lorna entered the workforce as a bookkeeper for Staunton Chevrolet, a position she held until 1965.

Lorna married the love of her life, William (Bill) Ratkovich on August 12, 1951. In 1965, Lorna and Bill joyfully greeted the birth of their son Thomas William. Lorna became a full time mom and homemaker; not returning to the workforce until 1978. She was employed at Musselshell Valley Equipment Co. until she retired in 2011.

In 1967, Lorna found her spiritual home, being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She continued to serve her God Jehovah until her death.

Lorna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.

She is survived by her son Tom; granddaughter Chanel and her husband Derek Phillips and grandchildren Ryder, Brynlee, and Duke; granddaughters Jade and Sierra Ratkovich; sisters Betty Kiner and Kathleen Kiner; brother Craig Kiner and his wife Baiba; and nieces and nephews: Jolynn, Billy, Fred, Michael, Justin, Cara, and Nathan.

Lorna's loving and selfless presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Rest in peace, dear Lorna, until your Creator calls you and fulfills his promise of the resurrection and eternal life in His perfect, new order.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
