Obituary for Wright Albert "Red" Anderson
Melstone--Wright Albert “Red” Anderson went home to his God on April 14, 2016 at St. Vincent Healthcare with his wife of 19 years, Nancy, and his dog “Mickey Rourke” by his side.

Wright was born March 1, 1928 in Ryegate, Montana to Albert and ElDora Clark Anderson. His parents and grandparents homesteaded at Bundy and Ryegate ending up with the Womans Pocket Ranch north of Ryegate and close to the Snowy Mountains.

“Red” went to work in the oilfields when he was 19 years old, trading in his horse and cowboy hat for a hard hat. He spent most of his life working for drilling companies such as Great Northern Drilling, L.P. Anderson, Taylor Drilling and Molen Drilling. He had many great stories to tell about his escapades in the “Oil Patch”. His daughters said he was a “Legend” in the Oilfield.

He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter Katie (Andy) Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Albert Keith Anderson of Great Falls, Mont.; daughters, Virginia Diane Flebotte (Richard) of Great Falls, Linda Groneman (Hal) of Springville, Utah; several step-children and grand-children.

“Red” lived his last years on the Cabin Creek Ranch south of Melstone doing the “Cowboy Way”. He died a quiet death with the dignity and respect he tried to live by all his life.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date to relive stories and to honor his life.

Wier Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at wierfuneralhome, com.
