Obituary for Roy Joseph Newman
Roy Joseph Newman, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2025 at his home in Roundup, Montana.
He was born on June 1, 1955 in Castro Valley, California. Roy graduated from Sunset High School in Hayward, California. He spent most of his life living in Northern California until he relocated to Roundup, Montana.
Roy was a truck driver for many years and loved the trucker life that took him on adventures all over the country. He was a race car enthusiast and loved spending time outdoors camping, hunting and fishing.
Roy is survived by his children; daughter Maile and her husband Jason Chitty of Raleigh, North Carolina; son Ryan Newman of Lovelock, Nevada; and grandson Marcelo Chitty. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul Newman of Palermo, California; Dennis Newman of Batesville, Arkansas; Phillip Newman of Manteca, California and sister, Danielle Newman of Oroville, California. He is also survived by his dear cousins Ike and Diane Newman also of Roundup, Montana as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who became family to him, especially those at the Maverick Bar. He also left behind his beloved German shorthair named Sadie who he loved and adored. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Antoinette Newman.
Roy will be remembered for his sharp wit, wicked sense of humor and big heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at a future date.
