Obituary for Michael H. Balich
Michael Hollis Balich, 71, passed away April 7, 2016 in Roundup, MT. He is survived by his most loved wife and partner, Marcia McCaffree Balich of Musselshell County; his children: Kelly Gross of Austin, TX, wife of Jarret Gross and their two children, Olivia, “Little-Bit” (13), and Hudson, “Half-Bit”, (10); his son, Tyler of Coeur d’Alene, ID and his wife Wynema and their two children, Finnley Michael (7) and Murphee (5); his son Gary and wife Alissa of West Yellowstone, MT; daughter, Renee and her husband Kelly of Missoula, MT; his son Jeff and wife Lisa of Anchorage, AK and their two children, Cassidy (10) and Kendall (8); his son Dustin and wife Noell of Bozeman, MT and his children, Ryan (25) of Georgia and Sydney; his brother, Bob of Roundup; sister, Linda of Roseau, MN; two aunts, Patsy Balich Southern and Nola Balich; his first wife, Vicky Balich of Austin, TX; his second parents, Hi and Dorothy McCaffree from Roundup, MT; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michael was first and foremost a United States Marine and faithfully served our country from 1963-1967 in Vietnam. He was a man’s man and loyal friend. Many people were helped by his generosity with his help of getting them employment in the oil field. People always said there was no greater friend than Mike! He had a long and successful career in the Alaska North Slope. Mike and his first wife, Vicky, owned an extremely successful paint store in Anchorage. He ended his career in the lower 48 oil fields. Mike from a very young age was an accomplished hunter who honed his skills from his mother, Peggy. He loved the outdoors, loved talking about history, and spent hundreds of hours in his wood-shop crafting and creating beautiful treasures.
Mike will be missed by all. A reception was held with military honors. He will be remembered by especially his love for the Marine motto. Rest in peace: we love you always--Semper Fi!
