Obituary for Mary Grace Walker
Mary Grace Walker age 89, of Melstone, MT, went to be with her heavenly Father on October 6, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mary was born on January 11, 1928 to Harold Eugene “Doc” Walker and Winnie Effie Freseman in Richey, MT.
Mary graduated from Richey High School in 1946. After graduation, she taught school for 1 year at a one room country school house. Mary moved to Billings, MT to attend MSU, then later went to work at a bank. It was there she met the Love of her life, William Duane Walker. They were married May 7, 1949, in Miles City, MT.
Mary became a wonderful wife and mother. In 1963, the family moved to Melstone, MT, having bought the (Dimond M) Business. Mom worked hard helping run the business cleaning motels, preparing food at the café and hauling bulk oil and gas.
In the early 1980’s, Mom and Dad sold the business and enjoyed traveling for many years. After Dad passed away, Mom continued to stay busy in the communities of Melstone and Musselshell. Due to failing health in 2014, Mom went to live with her daughter Barbara and son-in-law Bill Rostad. A Big Thank you to Barb and Bill for the excellent, loving care you gave Mom.
Mary is survived by daughters, Connie Roussan, Barbara (Bill) Rostad and son Scott (Kim) Walker; Five grandchildren and three step grandchildren; Sister, Edith Juvick; and numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Duane of 49 years, her brothers, Gene, Robert, Frank and George. Son-in-law, Barney Roussan, and granddaughter Reka Walker Samek.
Funeral Services will be held, Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Melstone Bible Church, burial to follow at the Melstone Cemetery. Please join the family for a meal at the Melstone Community Center following the graveside service.
