Obituary for Larry James Matheson
Larry James Matheson, born August 29, 1963, and a beloved member of the Lavina, Montana community, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and hard work. He was born to Alex and Joan Matheson, whom he cared for until their passing, and brought laughter and joy to those around him with his warm heart and willingness to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Matheson, and his father, Alex Matheson, as well as his mother, Joan Matheson. Larry is survived by his brother, Ron Matheson, and his sister, Diana Matheson. He also leaves behind his cherished adopted daughter, Joshlyn Shepherd, and his adoring grandson, Apollo.
Larry's love for farm life was evident in his care for animals, including dogs, cats, sheep, pigs, and goats. He was a trusted friend and mechanic, always ready to assist anyone in the Roundup community with their vehicles. His generosity and spirit of camaraderie made him a pillar of support for many.
Larry's laughter, stories, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, where friends and family can come together to honor his memory.
Rest in peace, Larry. Your legacy of love and friendship will forever remain in our hearts.
