Obituary for Joseph Richard Lar
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Father and Grandfather, Joseph R. Lar, he was 85. Joe passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Roundup Memorial Hospital.
Joe was born on November 24, 1931, in Roundup, MT, where he also grew up and attended school. He was very active in youth rodeo and he even participated in a few Old Timers Rodeos later in life. He graduated in 1949.
On October 11, 1958, he married Marjorie Bosen. Marjorie preceded him in death on January 28, 2017. They celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Joe owned several bars in his lifetime including the Stockman and Miner’s in Roundup and the Antler’s bar in Melstone. Joe was a cowboy at heart, always returning to what he loved best, ranching. He worked at the N Bar Ranch on South Fork of Flatwillow Creek, the Frazier Ranch East of Grass Range and the Grebe River Ranch in Melstone until retiring to Musselshell.
Joe loved his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids with all his heart. He was always up for taking one or all of them hunting, camping or fishing. He understood what it meant to be a Grandpa and has left each and every one of his children some great memories to cherish of him. He will be missed greatly.
Joe will be remembered as an outgoing, fun-loving, caring and compassionate man. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a smart comment. The name “Joe Lar”, will forever bring smiles to the faces of those who knew him and probably a few laughs as well.
