Obituary for John C. Fischer
John C. “Jack” Fischer, 86, of Evansville, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Linda E. White Hospice House.
Jack was born October 10, 1932 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to the late Nicholas and Genevieve (O’Leary) Fischer. He attended Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks, MN. After finishing high school, Jack attended St. John’s College in Collegeville, MN. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from service, Jack graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1955 with a business degree.
Jack owned and operated his own oil company and gas service stations for many years. He also operated an accounting firm in Evansville for many years. After retiring, Jack moved to Roundup, MT with his wife, Florence.
Surviving Jack are his wife of 66 years, Florence (Bruce) Fischer; two daughters, Cynthia (Greg) Govert and Nancy (Aaron) Dodd; three sons, Jon, Thomas and Paul Fischer; a sister, Helen Hallowell; fifteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce and David Fischer; two sisters, Judy and Jean and two grandsons, Keith and Nathan.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 8, 2019 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Claude Burns officiating. Burial will be held in Roundup City Cemetery in Roundup, MT.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church, 3500 S. St. Philip Road, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620.
