Ella Ruth Harper
Ella Ruth Harper, 84, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2018 in the comfort of her
home with her loving husband Gerald by her side. She is now walking with her Lord and Savior
and their precious baby Penny Sue in Heaven.
Ella was born on August 4, 1933 to Harley and Catherine Simms. She was the baby of
her family. Her older siblings were Paul, Dorothy, Geneva, Barbara and Norma. Monticello,
Maine, also known as potato country, was Ella’s hometown.
Ella met her sweetheart, Gerald, in Monticello at the age of 18. After courting for two
years, they were married on October 14, 1953. The day after they were married, Ella and
Gerald moved across the country to the Harper ranch in Roundup, Montana. Gerald and Ella
shared 64 beautiful years together.
She worked with social services for eighteen years as a home attendant in Roundup.
Ella enjoyed helping those in need within the small community.
Ella is survived by her husband, Gerald; sons, Wilbur (Laurie) Harper, Jim (Lisa) Harper
of Roundup and daughter, Barbara Booth of Billings; grandchildren Nicole (Ben) Hanson of
Roundup, Jeremy (Jamie) Harper of Powderville, MT, Pernnell (Mary) Booth of Aumsville, OR,
Kammille Booth of Billings, Cody (Lindsey) Harper of Roundup, Cassie Harper of Billings and
ten beautiful great grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place at Zion Lutheran Church in Roundup on Thursday, June
28th at 1:00pm. Graveside services will immediately follow at the Roundup Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Harper, Cody Harper, Ben Hanson, Raymond Raths, Pernnell Booth,
and JaQuawhann Booth.
Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Roundup or charity of one's choice.
