Obituary for Edith Lorene Schanbacher Ellis
Edith Lorene Schanbacher Ellis went home to the Lord on January 4, 2020. Edith
was born on September 13, 1928 in Newton, Kansas. The family moved to Abilene,
Texas when she was 12 years old. In 1945 Edith married O.S. “Jack” Ellis. They were
together for 66 years.
Edith and Jack bought a ranch in the Roundup area in 1946. This ranch became
home for 73 years. In 1959 they started Ellis Auctions and were active in the auction
business for many years.
Edith loved her family, horses, and the ranch. She was artistic, knew many needle
crafts, and an excellent cook and baker. Edith was a good mother and a loving Grandma
Edee. She was a member at Emmanuel Baptist Church and Roundup Ridge Riders for
many years.
Edith is survived by her son Jerry (Gayle) Ellis and daughter Barbie (Bill) Wacker.
Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
A grave side service will be held on January 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Roundup
Cemetery East of Roundup, MT.
A reception will be held following the service at the Roundup Ridge Riders. In lieu
of flowers please make memorials to Shriners Hospital – office of development P.O. Box
2472, Spokane, WA 99210.
