Obituary for Dorothy Irene McCaffree
Dorothy Irene (Miller) McCaffree, 92
went to heaven on Sunday March 18, 2018.
Dorothy was born on July 5, 1925, in a log cabin in Musselshell, Montana, the daughter of Matt and Margaret (Abercrombie) Miller. She was the 8th of 9 Children.
She grew up on “the hill” south of Musselshell, and went to school in Musselshell, graduating in 1942. While in school she was a member of the “Musselshell Eagles” Basketball team.
On August 4, 1943 she married the “Love of Her Life,” Hi (Dan) McCaffree. They were married 74 ½ Years. She was blessed with 3 children, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy was a ranch wife. She was Dads’ right-hand helper. She helped dad hay, lamb, feed cows, and cook for the ranch help. She was the cook at the Musselshell school and Forest Service. She was a 4-H leader, school secretary, and banker to name but a few of her occupations. Dorothy Loved to Fish and was an amazing bowler. Her many talents included baking, cooking, sewing, gardening and quilting. Her quilts are beautiful, most of them hand quilted with precision stitches and the wedding cakes she baked were gorgeous works of art.
Dorothy is survived by her Soul Mate and Loving Husband, Hi; children Danny (Carol) McCaffree of Roundup; Marcia Balich of Roundup; Paula (Brian) Claar of Wellton, AZ; Her entire Brood of grandchildren and all the greats and great greats. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and Friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Musselshell Bible Church. Interment will take place at the Musselshell Cemetery. A Celebration of her Beautiful Life will follow at the Musselshell School.
