Obituary for Barbara Jeanine Skidmore
Jeanine Skidmore, born Barbara Jeanine McCamey (89), passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. She was born on September 18, 1935, in Adel, Iowa to Louise McCamey (Glenn) and Charles Arthur McCamey Sr.
Jeanine moved to Roundup, Montana in 1954 and has been a strong presence in the community ever since.
She was known throughout the town for her immense love, understanding, and patience with children. Jeanine ran a daycare out of her house for so many years that in some cases, she had the privilege of babysitting the children of those she babysat in the past. She earned the trust of even the most skeptical of parents and always showed an abundance of love to her “kids”. Many parents are thankful for the huge part that she played in raising their kids during the most critical years.
Even in her seventies and eighties, Jeanine still found a way to love on and influence the children. She was an “adoptive grandma” at Roundup Central Elementary, where she volunteered, reading with the kids, mentoring them in the development of their vital reading skills.
She is survived by her daughter, Lacey Blankenship (Chris) of Virginia, and her three grandchildren: Cassandra, Douglas, and Evan; her sister, Jackie Miller of Billings, Montana; her brother, Jerry McCamey (Jeannie) of Washington State; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Roundup Backpack Program, which supplies weekend supplemental food for kids in need throughout the school year. Donations can be sent to Robin Sibley 915 3rd st east or Doreen Rech at 324 3rd Ave west.
The service will be held at Wier Funeral Home in Roundup, Montana, at 4 p.m. on August 2nd.
