Obituary for Allan Lee McDaniel
On August 15th, Allan passed away doing what he loved, checking his cows on his ranch. He was the 2nd son born to Robert McDaniel and Audrey (Wilkenson) Mosby on October 28th, 1945 in Billings, Montana. He was raised north of Melstone, on his families ranch in Cow Basin. He attended elementary school in Winnett and high school in Melstone graduating in 1963. He entered the Army in 1965 and spent most of his service years at Fort Hood. Upon his discharged from the Army, he returned to Melstone to work on area ranches, and spent his spare time rodeoing in Saddle Bronc riding and team roping. After a few years he then decided he wanted to go to California to train racehorses. He returned home to start a ranch of his own. He got his start by buying land from his aunt and a little band of sheep. In later years he sold the sheep and focused on raising Angus cows. In recent years he spent his free time watching the Benson, Dejaegher, and Kincheloe neighbor kids competing in basketball, football, and rodeo. He is preceded in life by his parents Robert McDaniel and Audrey Mosby and his brother Dave McDaniel. He is survived by his Aunt Arlene McDaniel and multiple Nieces and Nephews. Memorials can be made to the Chase Hawks Memorial or Melstone EMTs.
